CRISS ANGEL Believe is the true mystery to the Las Vegas Strip at the moment. As the newest show to arrive in Las Vegas, it is not set to open until late fall. So, there is a giant mystery to unfold as we patiently await the arrival. All that we know is that this show is going to be unbelievable. Mixing the amazing illusions of illusionist and magician Criss Angel with the athleticism and mystery of Cirque du Soleil, we are in for a treat. Magic and Cirque du Soleil have been waiting for years to come together and this is the perfect pairing and timing for this show! Make sure to check it out at the Luxor in Las Vegas!

While on my recent trip to Las Vegas, I got the opportunity to see one of the hottest Las Vegas shows on the Strip: Le Reve. Le Reve was a refreshing change of scenery from the other Las Vegas shows. The show was riveting, romantic, funny, and delicately done.

As I entered the theater, I was shocked to find how intimate the theater really was. At a Las Vegas performance, you would expect to find yourself as one among a humongous crowd, but this was not the case. The round theater surrounds all of the action and is only about 16 rows high, so there is NOT a bad seat in the house. We were a few rows above the Splash Zone. The Splash Zone gets its name from being so close to the water stage. The entire stage is made up of water, and platforms rise and submerge into the water like magic throughout the show.

As the lights dimmed down, it was if we were taken into the private imagination of a young woman. As the young woman lies down to go to bed, her bed submerges into the dark water and we are taken along with her into her dream world. The audience is immediately immersed in her dream world of swimming, diving, flying, and dancing characters. The synchronized female swimmers dancing to a tango in the water was AMAZING! Seeing athletically fit legs with fire-engine red heels pop in and out of the water, set to music, was such a neat effect to watch. I also loved the death-defying 80+ foot plunge by both female and male divers into the pool. Artistic elements really made this show! The little touches like the red high heels, lighting, interpretive break dancing, and sounds of water made the show what it was! But, I was expecting a dramatic performance the entire time. This was not the case. There were bits of humor thrown in by four angels who floated in and out of the young girl’s dream. The humor added that bit of comic relief that is refreshing to see at such an artistic and interpretive performance. The entire performance is the artistic interpretation of Picasso’s painting, Le Reve (which means the dream). It is fascinating to see how the director took his favorite elements of the painting and the emotions evoked from those elements and formed it into an entire artistic display for all to see.

I don’t want to give away ALL of the elements of the show, but you MUST see this show if you are ever in Las Vegas. It one of the best shows in Vegas! Le Reve is held in the Le Reve Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas. If you are going to Las Vegas, buy your Las Vegas show tickets ahead of time! You don’t want to miss it!

In 2008, alone, Cher, Elton John, and Bette Midler will all be performing in Vegas and all at the same location! The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is THE spot to see performances this year. All three artists will be performing at the 4,100 seat Caesars venue. The performers will be trading out time spots throughout the year. America’s sweetheart, Bette Midler , has been performing in Vegas since her February debut. Bette took over for Celine Dion’s long run at Caesars. Bette performs some of her famous hits, as well as her light sense of humor, which will make you fall in love with her and her bubbling personality. Cher began her Las Vegas run back in May. Make sure to check out the pop sensation on this tour, because this may be her last live run! She said that she was done on her Farewell Tour, but nothing can seem to stop this pop diva from trucking on. She will even be keeping her original style by reuniting with her infamous costume designer Bob Mackie. And, to top off the Grammy winner trifecta there is Elton John The legendary singer, song-writer, and all-time musical genius will be performing his classic hits at the Las Vegas venue throughout the year. Elton’s colorful persona and music define everything that is Las Vegas, so Elton fits perfectly with the personality of the city!

One thing that never seems to change in Vegas is that of the popularity of Cirque du Soleil shows. Well, Vegas has done it again! There is a brand new Cirque show, but this time with a magical twist literally. Illusionist and magician Criss Angel has teamed up with Cirque for a multi-million dollar production, to premiere at its October 10th gala opening. The show is named Criss Angel BELIEVE after the legend of Houdini. As one of the greatest magicians of all time, Houdini said on his death bed that those who are able to speak with him from the dead will know the codeword: Believe. Having over a year of thought and production put in to it, this new Cirque show will reshape the way we look at magic. Using mind-boggling tricks, art, acrobatics, dancing, puppetry, and a specially designed soundtrack this show will have your eyes playing tricks on you.
